Several hints on proper using Lithium Polymer batteries.

  Visted: 3989   Date: 2009-01-02

Here below are some hints during using Lithium Polymer batteries, it will help you to improve the performance and extend circling life of your batteries:
a. Do not over discharge or over charge a Lithium Polymer batteries. (which is well known)
b. Do not discharge at full discharging rate at first 4 times when use a new battery. for example, only use a 20C pack at 10-12C for the first 4 times.
c. When you do not use a battery pack for a long time, the best way is charge or discharge the battery to 3.85V to 3.9V per cell, then stock it securely, and do check the voltage of the cells regularly and charge it to 3.85 to 3.9V again when the voltage is close to 3.0V, it will severely damage the battery when the voltage is lower than 3.0V.

Also you may have the experience, that if you fully charge a pack, once stock it for some days without using, you may feel it is not as powerful as it used to even it is fully charged, but when you test the voltage of each cells, the voltages are ok, this is because when a pack is fully charged but not used for a long time, the pack will become inert (not active), this is why we highly recommend only charge to 3.85V to 3.9V when stock it, a pack charged to 3.85 to 3.9V will remain the inner chemic activity, you can draw as much current as it is.
